A fun silk painting of Maui, Hawaii. From the light house in Lahaina to the ley on the mountain overlooking Lahaina… I’ve been there at least 5 times and I just loved it. Maui is so inspiring and beautiful and I hope to see again sometime.
I’ve been painting on silk for over 25 years. I first stretch the white silk on stretcher bars, and then sketch out my design with a disappearing ink pen. I then go over the lines with a resist that enables me to paint within the lines. The paint will flow everywhere if I don’t use a resist.

Master Silk Painter
The title Master Silk Painter is awarded to those artists who have demonstrated remarkable skills, unsurpassed excellence and exquisite artistry in silk painting. This is the highest level of membership that can be obtained by an artist in SPIN (Silk Painters International), an international organization of silk painters. SPIN authorizes the artist to use the initials MSP after their name to indicate that in the eyes of their artistic peer and the world, the artist is a master silk painter.
