This barn owl is an oil and encaustic.
Framed size: 13 1/2″ x 7 3/4″ x 1 1/2″ with a white, wooden frame. No glass or plexi.

An encaustic painting is achieved by melting wax and varnish over a hot plate and slowing applying it while melting it with a hot gun. It’s very time consuming but rewarding. I then paint my image on top of the encaustic.
