This encaustic and oil painting was inspired by a recent trip to Alaska. One week is not enough time to spend there, so I will have to return one day. This is in the Kanai Fjords National Park. We took a boat out to see the glaciers and while we were there, the glacier was calving.
Framed size: 25 3/4″ x 13 1/2″ x 2″ (654mm x 342.9) with a white wooden frame.
As with all art, please keep out of direct sunlight.
An encaustic painting is achieved by melting wax and varnish over a hot plate and slowing applying it while melting it with a hot gun. It’s very time consuming but rewarding. I then paint my image on top of the encaustic. With a lot of my encaustics I leave part of the original encaustic and paint my images around the encaustic wax.
